God’s call to ministry came to Dan in 1974 while working as Director of Personnel for a large company in Northern Illinois. He and his wife Sandy, with their three kids, moved to Louisville, Ky., to attend Southern Seminary. Dan’s first church out of school was an American Baptist church in Indiana. Thus began a life-long commitment to the Lord serving with American Baptists. Before attending seminary, Dan was involved in starting two new churches. After five years of service in his first church, Dan was called to start a new church in Terre Haute, Ind. Following ten years of service there, he began working on a new church near Springfield, Ill.
Eight years past when International Ministries called Dan and Sandy to serve in South Africa as missionaries. Following their first term of service, they returned home to share their ministry with our ABC churches who had so faithfully supported him. It was in that first few month of home assignment, Sandy was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. A few months later, Dan was diagnosed with Burkett’s lymphoma. Shortly after, Sandy died in October of 2001 while Dan was still undergoing chemotherapy.
In 2002, Dan met and married Lucille Green and began a life together as the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Moline, Ill. In 2007, Dan and Lucille came to the Central Region where Dan joined the regional staff. Dan and Lucille reside in Collinsville, Oklahoma just north of Tulsa. |
