ABC/USA General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Lee B. Spitzer, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Annual Gathering, Oct. 12-14, 2017, at the Cross Wind Conference Center in Hesston, Kan.

Dr. Bill Hendricks, former ABC pastor and Director of Learning and Development for Farmers of America will offer a workshop on church conflict, and Rev. Mike Justice will lead a workshop on how congregations can encourage good pastoral self-care. A workshop entitled, “Friendship Circles, Discipleship and Evangelism” will be led by Dr. Spitzer; and a book signing is planned for his newest book, “Baptists, Jews and the Holocaust: The Hand of Sincere Friendship.”

IM missionaries, Keith and Debbie Myers will be sharing about their work in Central Mexico. They partner with the Council of Rural Indigenous Evangelicals of Mexico (CICEM) to train pastors, church leaders, youth leaders and teachers for the children. They serve in four states in Mexico and work with 34 churches. Those they serve speak Spanish and severn other languages.

“Employ Everyone With a Gift” will be the topic when Region Staff Minister, Rev. Julie Robinson, talks about rising leaders during the Clergy & Spouse event on Thursday evening, Oct. 12. The program will also include a conversation with the new General Secretary. It will be a good time to get acquainted and to hear from Dr. Spitzer about his vision for our American Baptist family and mission.

Debbie Myers will speak at the AB Women's Ministries luncheon, and the speaker for the ABMen's luncheon will be Bob Schlecta, president of ABMen USA.

Worship at the Annual Gathering will be led by Rev. Joel Schroeder and the praise team from Sunnyside Baptist Church, Wichita.

A special feature planned for Friday night will be the retirement celebration for Dr. John Williams who will complete his service with the Central Region on December 31. Take advantage of the opportunity to share your appreciation for his service to the Region, laugh at the “roasting” he will surely endure, and experience a wonderful evening of Christian fellowship and celebration.
